I have been keeping my eye on news about the upcoming fantasy action adventure Bye Bye, Earth since its anime was announced, as it features a sword-wielding female protagonist — Belle Lablac — who looks like she may be incredibly kickass, and a world full of anthropomorphic animals.
Now, with the new Bye Bye, Earth trailer out today via Japanese pay-TV station WOWOW, and with the interesting looking characters and their superb voice actors profiled in the trailer, I am absolutely sold.
Along with the new Bye Bye, Earth trailer, we also got three new cast members named, and a July 12th premiere date (so likely July 13th in the west on Crunchyroll).
Those three new cast members are:
Miyuki Sawashiro (Kitarou in Gegege no Kitarou) who plays Drambui
Kenjirou Tsuda (Shiki in Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy) as King Rawhide (Justice)
Setsuji Satou (Deckie in Duel Masters!!) who is voicing King Rawhide (Evil)
They join already announced Ai Fairouz, Ami Koshimizu, Junya Enoki, Saori Hayami, Junichi Suwabe and others.
As for the plot of Bye Bye, Earth it goes something like this:
In a world of anthropomorphic animals, Belle Lablac was born as the only human being. Having no fangs, fur, or scales, she was called “Faceless,” and she lived a lonely life with no one else she could identify with. “I want to be part of the world…”
With such longing in her heart, she decides to set out on a journey to find her roots, carrying the Runding, a great sword as tall as she is. She doesn’t know how many adversities await her along the way…
The anime is based on the novel of the same name by Tow Ubukata.
Bye Bye, Earth is being directed by Yasuto Nishikata (The Seven Deadly Sins: Prisoners of the Sky), with Hiroyuki Yoshino (World Trigger), in charge of scripts and Youki Hino designing the characters.
Australian composer Kevin Penkin (The Apothecary Diaries) is composing the soundtrack.
Bye Bye, Earth will hit Crunchyroll around the same time it premieres in Japan so mark your calendars and, of course, watch the new Bye Bye, Earth trailer below.
Now don’t those characters look amazingly cool?
